Course Description
Warehouses and logistics management are often under-rated operations in organisations, yet they are essential in providing customer service. This course is designed to introduce the students to the concepts, principles and practices in the field of warehouse, inventory and logistics management and their relationship with other functions in an organization. This course provides a practical, management perspective of the following areas of logistics: distribution, transportation, international logistics, inventory control, sustainable logistics practices, key performance indicators, supply chain finance, leadership in a supply chain role, and an introduction to logistics technology including RFID and ERP systems. The course further introduces students to distribution structures, functions and information systems and discusses the use of information and computer applications in logistics management.
Therefore, this course focuses on the aspects of logistics management, from theories to strategies and operational guidelines in the changing competitive business environment. The theories and principles explored in this course assist students to make the best use of time and in order to create efficiency. It further shows how to implement all of the essential tools for the effective management of warehousing and stores.
